Minnesota Online Counseling Therapists
Dave halper, ma, lmft
It takes courage to go to counseling. To do therapy effectively, you often have to expose some of your humanness and be vulnerable. I have included a picture of a younger version of me in an attempt to be more human myself. I hope that it is helpful.
I take a straightforward, common sense approach to counseling. Many times we just need someone to help us sort out what seems jumbled in our minds. I work with individuals, couples, teens, parents, and children as young as 12. Many of our past experiences linger in the form of fear. Bringing to light some of the exaggerated responses we have today as a result of these experiences can help us manage them. Identifying our habitual ways of thinking that do not serve us well allows us to develop more helpful ways of thinking. I work with people that suffer from depression, anxiety, or just a feeling that they could be happier in life. I have experience helping people sort out the aftermath of affairs. I have special training in treating issues of sexual compulsivity.
EMILY JORDAN, MA, LAMFT
I take a strengths-based and holistic approach to therapy and mental health, and work to create a calm and encouraging atmosphere for personal growth and relational healing. I especially enjoy working with couples, families, young adults, seniors, and rural families. It's my joy to support people as they heal relationships, restore connection, and affect sustainable positive change in their lives. My specific clinical interests include: couple and family communication and functioning, life transitions, addiction, spirituality, anxiety and depression, grief and loss, relationships with food, goal-setting, and self-esteem.
In addition to clinical work, I am also pursuing a PhD in Couple and Family Therapy at the University of Minnesota. My research interests include rural mental health, and mental health stigma.
